Another work by Garth Ennis, the creative mind behind The Boys and Preacher comics, is in development and has a director.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that a film adaptation of Crossed is in the works, with a script from Ennis, and Rob Jabbaz taking the director’s chair.

In Crossed, a zombie-like pandemic spreads across the world, except in this case, instead of becoming mindless, well, zombies… people become murderous psychopaths with their intelligence intact.

Jabbaz’s previous work includes The Sadness, a Taiwanese horror flick where a disease turns people violent (I’m sensing a trend here).

The film’s plot will focus on the first ten issues of Crossed, which were published from 2008 to 2010. The feature also has a modest budget of $2 to $3 million and is backed by the production company, Six Studios.

“It has been a real delight working with Garth Ennis and Six Studios developing Crossed for the big screen,” Jabbaz told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “From day one, our primary goal has been to deliver a faithful adaptation of the original series, along with a few new surprises. I certainly hope audiences are ready for this.”

“Happy New Year,” added Ennis. “It’s 2025 and the world is catching up with the world of Crossed in all the wrong ways. So what better time to bring out the movie you’ve all been waiting for?”

No news yet on casting, though the film is looking to start production this March. icon-paragraph-end
