If you are old enough to remember when, in the late 1990s, the original Star Wars films began to get 20th anniversary theatrical re-releases (yes, with Lucas’ questionable edits)—well, congrats! You’re now old enough to finish experiencing the 20th anniversary of the prequel films as well. As is chronologically natural, the latest Star War to return to the big screen is Revenge of the Sith, which first arrived in theaters on May 19th, 2005.

Sith will stalk back into movie theaters a month shy of its official anniversary, on April 25th, 2025. You will be able to see it in regular old 2D and, alarmingly, in 4DX. I do not want to know what the associated scents will be. Can they make the chairs lava hot? The Star Wars site says, “From the exhilarating battles over the planet of Coruscant to the fiery volcanic high grounds of Mustafar, relive this pivotal chapter in the Skywalker saga; the 4DX experience features high-tech motion chairs that sync with over 21 effects, all designed to complement the narrative of the film.”

As everyone reading this probably knows, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith is the third and final of George Lucas’s prequel films, which tell the story of the rise and fall of young Anakin Skywalker. It stars Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Frank Oz, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christopher Lee, among others, and was written and directed by Lucas himself.

It is also the inspiration for arguably the greatest 10-second video of all time.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith will be in select theaters for one week only. icon-paragraph-end
