Another Robin Hood adaptation is in the works! We’ve known about the series adaptation at MGM since at least earlier this year, when news broke that newcomer Jack Patten will be playing “Rob,” which I guess is what we’re calling him in this version of the story.

Today, Deadline broke the news that the show has found its Marian in Lauren McQueen, whose previous credits include the recent Tom Hanks film, Here, Strictly Confidential (pictured above), as well as parts on the Netflix series Ridley and Belgravia: The Next Chapter. She also reportedly has a recurring role on the Outlander prequel, Blood of My Blood, though we don’t have details yet on who exactly she’ll be playing.

The casting of Marian is a big one for this series, as showrunner John Glenn via Deadline describes the show as having “a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian.”

Deadline gives us more details on the premise of the upcoming series:

Following the Norman invasion of England, Rob (Patten)—a Saxon forester’s son—and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord—fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land.

We also have news on additional cast members on the show, who join McQueen and the previously announced Patten and Sean Bean, who is playing the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Lydia Peckham (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) is playing the Sheriff’s daughter, Priscilla of Nottingham; Steven Waddington (The Trap) plays Marian’s father, the Earl of Huntingdon;  Marcus Fraser (Foundation) will be Little John; Angus Castle-Doughty (Shadow and Bone) is Friar Tuck; and actor/TikTok star Henry Rowley plays Will, who is described as “a young man caught between two worlds who wants belonging, respect, and a future beyond the shadows of the forest.”

The series just started production in Belgrade, Serbia. No news yet on a premiere date for the show on MGM+. icon-paragraph-end
