It’s still weeks—weeks!—until the third season of The Wheel of Time premieres on Prime Video, but if you would like to torture yourself a little bit, you can now watch the first minutes of the upcoming season premiere.

This is a very different beast than the recent trailer, which is to say: If you watch this, you will know things, definitive things, about this season that you cannot unknow. But they’re from the very first scene, so you will have to decide for yourself whether that’s worth it. It’s a big, big scene with a lot of drama and death; showrunner Rafe Judkins has said “The first 15 minutes of Season 3 is one of the most bonkers set pieces I’ve ever seen on television.”

But the released scene is a bit shorter than 15 minutes, so there will be more to come! And the clip certainly ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

The season opens at the White Tower, where Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okenedo) has called together the Aes Sedai and intends to question Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood), who made some, uh, wildly questionable choices in season two. The rest of the red ajah are barred from the chamber; Liandrin’s actions have cast their loyalty into doubt.

This will turn out to be a bad choice.

The scene brings together dozens of characters, some of whom we know well (hi, Alanna!) and some not so much. The show expects you to keep up; you will not be reminded who most of these people are, though Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Lan (Daniel Henny) get a quiet moment, away from the action. The one person who gets reintroduced is Nynaeve (Zoe Robbins), who is brought out as proof of Liandrin’s villainy.

That proof leads to a massive confrontation and revelation—one that raises a lot of new questions, some of which, one hopes, will be answered over the course of this season. The Wheel of Time returns with three episodes on March 13th, with weekly episodes after that. You can watch the first two seasons—and this sneak peek clip—on Prime Video. icon-paragraph-end
