Two things:
1. Awesome! I will be updating my home computer’s wallpaper as soon as I get home from work.
2. Any chance of a version without the author/title on it, so we can just appreciate the beautiful artwork?
WTB Print! Like the AMoL Print that thing is awesome and got a bitchin frame for it.
I am with JeremyGuebert on this. I love Sanderson, but when I have a wallpaper, I just want the art itself.
Regardless, thanks for posting this!
Patrick N @@@@@2 – We’ll be offering a print @@@@@ michaelwhelan.com that will be similar in size and quality to AMoL and WoK. But I believe Michael is still tinkering with the image. We’ll announce via our newsletter when the print is ready.
We’ll also be running an additional “making of” feature on the website. And possibly include a high-res wallpaper without the wall of type if they don’t offer one on TOR.com.

With Way of Kings there was a 1920×1200 version (which is my screen resolution) but this time there’s a strange 1900×1200 version. A quick Google search tells me 1920×1200 monitors are 33 times as popular as 1900×1200 monitors (and I’m not convinced those 1900×1200 monitors aren’t actually 1920×1200).
In short: 1920×1200, please. :)
Peter Ahlstrom,
the Herald of Sanderson has spoken!
Thus let it be!
Michael Whelan rules.
That is all.
Hey all, we’ll be adding the title-less wallpaper soon and will let ya’ll know through Twitter/Facebook/this site/etc. when it’s been updated!
^ You guys rock. Keep being awesome, Tor.com
Devil’s advocate here, but I’m really disappointed with artwork for this book. I just don’t like it at all.
With Whelan being such a great artist, and Sanderson writing such amazing stories; I was just expecting something… more.
I was really hoping he’d pick Raymond Swanland as the cover artist for this book. Dude did some great artwork on some of Modesitt’s books and that Towers of Midnight ebook cover he did was awesome.
Feel free to cast your stones, but I stand by my post.
I love that the cover art is available, but does Brandon Sanderson have to be so big. I loved the arrangement for The Way of Kings wallpaper with the the name and title in the upper left hand corner where there was nothing, just like this one. It is kind of annoying to cover up the real dynamic part of the storm with the larger than life name and title. Much better if it was like The Way of Kings.
In other news keep it up Whelan. This is some of the coolest cover art I have ever seen.
None of the wallpapers work on an Android phone :( They’re all either crazy wide, or too low-res.
Another awesome wallpaper. Iam now off to change the Way of kings wallpaper with this. Just looking at the wallpaper increases the anticipation for the next book. Can’t wait!
This goes very well along with the first cover. :)
Hi guys, I’m trying to download the link but a 404 error appears… any way to fix this? Thanks in advanced! Love the series!
@17 Bernardo – Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ll get these links fixed as soon as possible.
Edit: should be fixed now!
