The Raven Cycle Maggie Stiefvater

According to Publishers Marketplace, Universal Cable Productions has acquired the television rights to Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven Cycle, described as being “about four private school boys and a psychic’s daughter who quest for a sleeping king of Welsh legend in the mountains of Virginia, uncovering ancient magic, powerful dreams, and the devils in themselves.” Executive producers will include Michael London (Sideways, the upcoming HBO adaptation of Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad) through Groundswell Productions; Andrew Miller, known for The Secret Circle, who will adapt the book series as EP and showrunner; and Catherine Hardwicke, who is also attached to direct the pilot, and who directed the first Twilight film.

Stiefvater tweeted the announcement this morning, saying, “I thought this was still a secret, but I GUESS NOT ANYMORE.” As we wait for more details, check out Lee Mandelo’s four-part essay on The Raven Cycle, and tell us your dream casts!

I loved the feel of the books, the setting, the ambiance, the characters, and Monmouth Manufacturing. I didn’t care at all about the Raven King plot. Maybe a tv series can clean it up and make the main plot line more interesting to me. (Hopefully, in so doing, they don’t ruin it for others.)

Maggie Stiefvater’s writing style was essential to the tone of the series. I can’t see that translating well on television.

Personally, though I enjoyed Cabeswater immensely, it is the characters I think about when anyone brings up the series. They are so precious to me that any cast will inevitably disappoint me.

I feel like I am being a Negative Nancy here but I can’t stress enough how big a role the author’s particular writing played in why the series is so loved.

Couple that with the fact that the books are always better, and I just can’t be excited about it.

So excited! Miles Heizer (Alex Standall in 13 Reasons Why) would be the perfect cast for Noah Czerny!

I’m equally as excited as I’m terrified by this.

Since the story’s character driven, I really hope they don’t screw up by casting the wrong people. The characters write the story. I just can’t see anyone portraying these beautiful characters in a fair way.. (as for dream cast, Froy Gutierrez is someone I’ve always pictured as Adam, idk but (by looks) I think he fits the role quite well :-/)

It’d be super cool if Dudley O’Shaughnessy played Ronan, Tom Webb played Adam, and Amandla Stenberg played Blue!

I’m afraid that they’ll mess this up. But I hope they won’t ?

Anyway, this is my dreamcast and i’m just going by looks.

Lydia Graham as Blue (she’s perfect, she basically IS Blue), Blake Steven as Gansey, Colton Hayes as Ronan (when he shaves his head), Brenton Thwaites or Tom Webb as Adam and I don’t have anyone for Noah, because I can’t really picture Noah in my head.

I don’t mind what the cast is, as long as they stick to the way the characters are supposed to look like
