If you’ve ever wanted to further explore the world of N.K. Jemisin‘s three-time Hugo Award–winning Broken Earth trilogy, have we got some incredible news for you. Green Ronin Publishing, which previously gamified The Expanse, will be adapting the series into a tabletop RPG!
“I’ve heard from many of my readers that they’re fascinated enough by the world of the Broken Earth that they’d like to visit it (nobody wants to live there tho!) and now they’ll get their chance,” Jemisin said in the publisher’s announcement. “I’ll be working with Green Ronin to try and make sure the spirit and feel of the books is rendered successfully in this new form.”
Named after the first book in the series, The Fifth Season, the RPG is due to be released next fall. According to Green Ronin, it will be co-developed by Tanya DePass and Joseph D. Carriker, and use a “revised and customized version” of the Chronicle System used in Green Ronin’s Game of Thrones RPG.
This isn’t the only Broken Earth adaptation we have to look forward to. As we learned in 2017, TNT will be turning The Fifth Season into a TV show, with an as-yet unknown release date.
