Netflix’s next big science fiction movie is set to debut next week: Outside the Wire, a military science fiction thriller starring Damson Idris as a soldier assigned to assist a classified military robot (played by Anthony Mackie) in a war zone.
Just ahead of the film’s release, the streaming service has dropped a new trailer that shows off what to expect.
We got our first look at the film back in December: Mackie plays Captain Leo, an experimental android in a near-future war. He has super strength and speed, and can change his appearance to look just like a human.
Lt. Harp (Idris) was assigned to Leo after breaking the chain of command and disobeying orders. Leo finds that appealing: he tells him that he needs someone who can think outside the box. They have a tough mission ahead of them: they’re to track down a horrifying weapon before a group of enemy insurgents do. Like Harp, he can break the rules if he has to, especially once he convinces him to remove a fail-safe.
The film looks to be in the vein of Netflix’s other big-budget action films like Extraction and The Old Guard, and it will begin streaming on January 15th.
