Marvel’s’ next live-action series for Disney+ is on its way: Hawkeye. The studio has debuted its first trailer for the upcoming series, and it looks like something that’s altogether different than its predecessors—an action-comedy with a holiday twist, which fits with the show’s debut on November 24th.
The trailer really leans into the Christmas theme from the jump: Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and his family have gathered for their first Christmas together in years, ever since they were reunited after Tony Stark snapped everyone back into existence in the finale of Avengers: Endgame.
Clint/Hawkeye was one of those who survived the initial snap, and in Endgame, we learned that he took up a new mantle—Ronin—a vengeance-driven persona who went after a number of criminal organizations around the world. Black Widow/Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johansson) coaxed him back onto the Avengers to take down Thanos, and it looks as though Clint has opted to give up the life of a superhero now that his family is back. He’s making up for lost time, taking them to see Captain Rogers: The Musical (this really needs to be a Disney+ Original), and trying to put the past behind him.

In the Watchful City
That is, until he sees a news report that Ronin has resurfaced, and he’s off to investigate what’s behind the figure’s reappearance. There’s good reason to be concerned—he earned plenty of enemies for his body count.
As he begins his investigation, he finds an unexpected ally: another Hawkeye, Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld), an archer with superhero aspirations. The two team up to try and figure out who’s behind Ronin, and along the way, there’s some car chases, lots of archery stunts, some action at a renaissance fair (or LARP?) and some nicely-timed comedic falls.
The show is the latest in a series of post-Avengers: Endgame projects from Marvel on Disney+. Earlier this year, the studio kicked off its run with WandaVision, which followed Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) as she dealt with her grief over losing Vision (Paul Bettany); Falcon and the Winter Soldier followed Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) as they contended with the new geopolitics of the post-Snap world; Loki, in which the titular character (Tom Hiddleston) discovered the machinations behind the universe’s multiverse and timelines, and uncovered a new threat to everyone. Marvel’s animated What If…? series is currently streaming.
Hawkeye will debut on November 24th on Disney+, just in time for Christmas. The series already has a spinoff in the works: Echo, about a superhero called of the same name (to be played in this series by Alaqua Cox.)
