Usually it’s Scooby and Shaggy who don the disguises for Mystery Inc., but this time Velma and Daphne are getting in on the fun! And no, this Scooby-Doo/Wonder Woman crossover isn’t an inspired piece of fan art—it’s an actual DC comic.
That’s right—DC recently released an all-ages Wonder Woman comic where Paradise Island plays host to detectives Velma and Daphne. See, because a land with no crime has trouble finding a detective to solve their latest mystery—mythological monsters popping in and out of existence. Diana’s first choice of detective, Batman, isn’t allowed to set foot on Paradise Island… but he recommends two sharp Mystery Inc. ladies who can.
The fact that Velma and Daphne come recommended by the Caped Crusader is one of many nods to the Scooby-Doo TV series. We really dig how the overall art style matches the Hanna-Barbera cartoons—from Amazonians jousting on kangas to Shaggy and Fred stuck inside the invisible jet. Take a deeper look at the crossover with Comics Alliance’s review.
And get a load of that battle armor! We smell a new cosplay on the horizon—maybe not in time for San Diego Comic-Con, but we definitely expect to see some Amazon!Velmas and Amazon!Daphnes at New York Comic-Con.
