France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever—and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, an adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore, and he remembers her name.
Tor Books has announced that New York Times-bestselling author V.E. Schwab will return with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, hitting shelves on October 6, 2020.
In the vein of The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue delivers a standalone story from author V.E. Schwab. During a quick update on the book’s progress from back in July 2019, Schwab explained a little bit more about the story and its romantic underpinnings.
Missing #SDCC? No big deal.
We're sharing @veschwab's special Con message (with an update on #AddieLaRue!) right here too. pic.twitter.com/cyctvHWNAx

Wasn’t this the plot of A Sudden Appearance of Hope by Claire North?
Yes, the premise was the same, except that Claire North wasn’t immortal. It was an excellent book.
Thank you, I was trying to remember where I had read that before. The Sudden Appearance of Hope was an excellent novel. It will be interesting to see what Schwab does with the idea
@2 @3 Yes. I listened to Hope being narrated by Gillian Burke. One of the best voices in my opinion. Bizarrely she is better known as BBC nature correspondent.
Having totally derailed the comment section I now feel obligated to buy poor Shwab’s book.
I can’t wait for this to come out, I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read by V.E. Schwab from her middle-grade City of Ghosts to her YA The Savage Song to her adult book A Darker Shade of Magic.
