My Best Friend’s Exorcism, Grady Hendrix’s 2016 horror novel, has gotten the movie adaptation treatment at Amazon and we’ve got a trailer to prove it.

The trailer is a fun one! Full of ‘80s nostalgia and humor and, of course, the requisite “I’m possessed so let me vomit all over you” moment. Hendrix also penned the script for the Amazon adaptation, which suggests that it will likely hew close to his original story.

Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:

The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act…different. She’s moody. She’s irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she’s nearby. Abby’s investigation leads her to some startling discoveries—and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?

The movie is directed Damon Thomas, whose previous credits include directing several episodes of Killing Eve and Penny Dreadful, which also makes me feel good about what the overall tone and look of the film will be like. It also stars Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Amiah Miller (War for the Planet of the Apes), Cathy Ang (And Just Like That…), Cynthia Evans (Stargirl, The Game), Christopher Lowell (Veronica Mars, GLOW), and newcomer Rachel Ogechi Kanu.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism drops on Prime Video on Friday, September 30th.
