It’s good news for killer dolls and young vampires! In a move that seems perfectly in keeping with its whole vibe, Syfy has renewed both Chucky (for a third season) and Reginald the Vampire (for a second).

Chucky is a continuation of the movie series about the murderous and scowling doll; like the movies, it stars SFF stalwart Brad Dourif (The Lord of the Rings, Deadwood) as the voice of Chucky, along with a fascinating lineup of performers that includes Jennifer Tilly (also of the Chucky movies), Lexa Doig (Andromeda), and Devon Sawa (Final Destination).
In a statement, Chucky creator and executive producer Don Mancini said, “This news has made Chucky very happy. Thank Damballa for that because otherwise Chucky would have been frankly impossible to deal with.”
Reginald the Vampire is an adaptation of the “Fat Vampire” books by Johnny B. Truant. It stars Spider-Man‘s Jacob Batalon as Reginald Andres, who has normal problems—crushes, bosses—and then, you know, that whole vampire thing. Undead enemies, the whole nine yards. Mandela Van Peebles and Em Haine co-star with Batalon.
The third season of Chucky is coming this fall; no release window has been announced for Reginald. But vampires do like to sneak up on people.
