We may have just about given up on the idea of there ever being a Raven Boys TV series, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other Maggie Steifvater adaptations in the works! Deadline reports that Andy Fickman is set to direct an adaptation of Stiefvater’s bestselling YA novel Shiver.
Shiver, which was published in 2009, is the first in a series that’s been called both the Shiver Trilogy (on the author’s website) and the Wolves of Mercy Falls (assorted other places). Here’s the summary:
For years, Grace has watched the wolves in the woods behind her house. One yellow-eyed wolf—her wolf—is a chilling presence she can’t seem to live without.
Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl. In summer, a few precious months of being human… until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away. It’s her wolf. It has to be. But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay human—or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.
Fickman’s resume ranges from She’s the Man to Heathers: The Musical to the upcoming One True Loves, an adaptation of the Taylor Jenkins Reid. None of this exactly screams “werewolf love story,” but one can always be surprised. Stiefvater will be a consultant on the movie, which does not yet have a writer.
No casting details or production timelines have been announced.
