Babylon 5 is back! The animated feature Babylon 5: The Road Home is coming ever closer to its premiere, and Warner Bros. Entertainment put out a trailer today that gives us our first glimpse of many of the original cast members returning to voice their characters.
The trailer lets us hear the dulcet voice of John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) as he becomes caught up in some tachyons that throw him into alternative realities, including at least one where Babylon 5 and its allies lost the Shadow War, with planet-destroying results. The trailer gives us more than just a look at Boxleitner playing John Sheridan once more, but I’ll let you watch the trailer yourself to see what other glimpses we get from returning cast members and characters.
Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:
Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.
Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski loves the trailer and hopes you do too, according to his Twitter account. He also confirmed that The Road Home is a project that is “totally separate and apart” from the efforts to get a live-action reboot off the ground. If this feature does well, however, that will only help in getting additional Babylon 5 projects of any kind off the ground, so fingers crossed that The Road Home is well-received.
Babylon 5: The Road Home will be available on Digital, 4K UHD and Blu-ray on August 15, 2023.
