In 2019, Samara Weaving met the world’s worst in-laws in the horror comedy Ready or Not. The film was a success, so, naturally, a sequel is coming—and it has a lot of star power. Variety reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy herself) and Elijah Wood (Frodo himself) have joined the cast, which already boasted quite a lineup alongside the returning Weaving.

Ready or Not: Here I Come, which Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will return to direct, also stars Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), Néstor Carbonell (The Dark Knight, Shogun), Kevin Durand (Abigail), Shawn Hatosy (The Pitt), and David Cronenberg (Star Trek: Discovery). It’s written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, who also return from the first film.

(This is where you make a joke about how only the behind-the-scenes folks from the first film are returning, because it was an epic bloodbath.)

The premise of Ready of Not was, yes, a deadly came of hide-and-seek. When Grace (Weaving) marries Alex Le Domas (Mark O’Brien), she has to draw a card from the puzzle box created by his ancestor, who probably made a deal with the devil in order to get rich. Little does she know that when she draws the seemingly basic “Hide and Seek” card, she becomes an unwilling participant in a ritual sacrifice. Unless she survives to star in a sequel, that is.

No premiere date has been announced for Ready or Not: Here I Come. icon-paragraph-end
