Last week, Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski revealed that an animated movie set in the original show’s universe existed and that we’d find out the title and the cast would be revealed next week. Well, it’s one week later, and as promised, both of those things have been revealed as well as a hint of what the plot of the film will be.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news today that the movie is officially called Babylon 5: The Road Home. Here’s the movie’s official log line:

The Archive Undying
Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.
Alternate realities and time travel? Good stuff! And to make things even better, many from the original cast are coming back: Bruce Boxleitner will return as John Sheridan, as well as Claudia Christian as Susan Ivanova, Peter Jurasik as Londo Mollari, Bill Mumy as Lennier, Tracy Scoggins as Elizabeth Lochley and Patricia Tallman as Lyta Alexander.
Other voice cast members include Paul Guyet as Zathras and Jeffery Sinclair, Anthony Hansen as Michael Garibaldi, Mara Junot as Reporter and Computer Voice, Phil LaMarr as Dr. Stephen Franklin, Piotr Michael as David Sheridan, Andrew Morgado as G’Kar and Rebecca Riedy as Delenn.
We also know that the feature is expected to be released sometime this summer, though no news yet on when exactly or where (though it will most likely be on the Max streaming platform).
And for those of you also wondering about the status of a live-action Babylon 5 reboot? No news on that front yet, sadly, although Straczynski did tweet yesterday that this project was on hold “until the WGA strike is resolved,” referring to the writers’ ongoing strike against studios refusing to negotiate fair payment for its creatives.
