Shweta Narayan
Shweta Narayan
I'm a long-time spec fic reader and new writer, primarily of mythic fiction and urban fantasy (of the not-paranormal-romance type). Have lived in India, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands, Scotland, and the US, so I tend to play with cross-cultural themes.
Let's see. Er. I'm an alum of Clarion (2007), for which I received the Octavia Butler Memorial Scholarship. I have a few short stories and a couple of poems published, and a website that I'll put up Any Day Now and link to.
I'm also writing a dissertation in linguistics, but that's paused due to health problems.
Shweta Narayan was born in India, has lived in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Scotland, and California, and feels kinship with shapeshifters and other liminal beings. Their short fiction and poetry have appeared in a number of places, including Strange Horizons, Goblin Fruit, and We See a Different Frontier.
Shweta received an Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship, was shortlisted for the 2010 Nebula Awards, and co-edits the speculative poetry zine Stone Telling, http://stonetelling.com/
