Vincent has received every major science fiction award, including the Hugo Award and the Chesley Award for Lifetime Artistic Achievement, and he has had his paintings exhibited in numerous shows at museums and galleries throughout the world. These include solo exhibitions at the Reading Museum, the Museum of Science and Natural History in St. Louis and the Hayden Planetarium in New York City. His work is included in the holdings of the National Air and Space Museum, the U. S. Air Force Art Collection, the Society of Illustrators, The New Britain Museum of American Art and NASA, as well as in many private collections. He was commissioned by NASA in 1985 to create the official painting of the International Space Station currently being assembled in Earth orbit. That painting is on display at the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida.
He has published three books and authored hundreds of articles. The award-winning Infinite Worlds was the first comprehensive history of science fiction art in America and, most recently, Paper Tiger produced The Science Fiction Art of Vincent Di Fate.
Vincent holds a Master of Arts degree in Illustration from Syracuse University, is a Professor of Illustration at FIT and is currently the Acting Chair of the Fashion Institute of Technology's MA in Illustration program. He is also a key sponsor of a forthcoming undergraduate Film major at FIT which will have a unique emphasis on the art and design aspects of the contemporary motion picture field. This would include related area concentrations in Costume Design, Production Design and Illustration for Film.
