Considering Bill Murray’s reluctance to join up for Ghostbusters 3, it’s surprising to hear that not only is he supportive of the rumored all-female Ghostbusters reboot—but he’s got casting suggestions, too! And his dream cast sounds like the coolest bunch of misfit parapsychologists we would want to watch.
“I’m fine with it,” Murray told the Toronto Star (via Vulture) at the Toronto International Film Festival of the rumored project from Bridesmaids director Paul Feig. “I would go to that movie, and they would have better outfits, too.” He had previously joked, “There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor!”
Some rumors have pointed to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as heading up this female Ghostbusters team, but we really dig Murray’s suggestions:
“Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster.”
“And Kristen Wiig is so funny—God, she’s funny!”
“I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot.”
“And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”
BOOM. Doesn’t get much better than this foursome. (Well, a woman of color would be ideal.) Each of these women has a knack for playing either straight-man or delightfully crazy, which leads to any number of different combinations for how they could play off each other.
