I’ve long said that Joe Abercrombie’s First Law series was ripe for film or television adaptation, and it looks like Hollywood finally agrees with me! The author’s standalone book in the First Law world, Best Served Cold, is getting an adaptation and not only has some A-list talent attached, but also sees Abercrombie penning the script.

According to Deadline, none other than Dune and Silo star Rebecca Ferguson (pictured above in her Silo role) is in talks to star in a movie adaptation of Best Served Cold, with Deadpool director and Love, Death & Robots creator Tim Miller helming the production for Skydance.

If you need a refresher on the plot of Best Served Cold, the story centers around Monza Murcatto, an infamous mercenary who seeks revenge on the seven people who killed her brother as well as garotted her and threw her off a balcony presumed dead. The story, which our review points out, gives off strong Kill Bill and Point Blank vibes, and has Monza (to be played by Ferguson in the adaptation) tracking down those responsible for her brother’s death and her attempted murder. The story unfolds in Abercrombie’s signature grim fashion, with Monza collecting a motley crew of individuals who will be familiar to those who’ve read his other First Law books, though you don’t have to have read his other works to understand and enjoy this one.

No news yet on when the project will go into production, much less make its way to a screen near you. I can’t wait for more casting news, however, to see who will take on the roles of Caul Shivers and Nicola Cosca.
