Moana Heads for New Skies In the Moana 2 Teaser

Keep that pig away from Maui!

Moana at a drum, in the teaser for Moana 2

I’ll hand it to whoever edited this trailer: If you want to re-introduce a beloved character in an extremely endearing way, having her give a wee little hermit crab a really cool new shell is not a bad way to go about that. The teaser for Moana 2, the latest inevitable Disney sequel, begins with this action, and now I only want the best for Moana forever.

There’s not much else in this little peek, beyond what was pretty much a given: Moana (Auli‘i Cravalho) is going to set sail on a new adventure, and Maui (Dwayne Johnson) is coming along. (Plus animal friends!) Okay, yes, there are hints of danger! And family! And very cool drumming! And one very beautiful whale. Other than that, you’ll have to be patient. For now.

There is, however, something like a synopsis:

Moana 2 reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, Moana 2 features music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foaʻi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

Moana 2 is in theaters November 27th. icon-paragraph-end
