Lockwood & Co.’s eight-episode first season will be the only one to stream on Netflix. The adaptation of Jonathan Stroud’s supernatural detective series where teenagers with psychic powers battle ghosts received positive reviews but, according to the streaming platform, not enough viewers to warrant a second season.

The series came from Attack the Block and The Kid Who Would Be King writer-director Joe Cornish and his company Complete Fiction, which also includes Edgar Wright, Nira Park and Rachael Prior as co-founders. That company will still continue to work with Netflix, according to Variety, which also shared a larger statement from the production company.

“With heavy hearts, we announce that Lockwood & Co. will not be returning for a second series,” Complete Fiction said in the released statement. “Making this show was one of the most rewarding experiences of our careers and we will forever treasure it. Being trusted by the supremely talented Jonathan Stroud to adapt his outstanding series of books was an honour and a privilege. Working with him as closely as we did across the development, production and release of Lockwood & Co has made him a friend, and part of the Complete Fiction family, for life.”

The company’s statement goes on to praise the actors on the show—Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, and Ali Hadji-Heshmati—as well as the series’ fans.

“We cannot thank you enough for how much you have embraced, celebrated and loved the show,” said the statement. “You are the kindest, most creative group of people online and it has been so gratifying to see how your passion for these characters and this world has brought you all together. This might be the end of the line for the TV show, but the books live on, as do the friendships made. We encourage you to embrace both.”

The first season of Lockwood & Co. is currently streaming on Netflix.
