Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing Set to Become a Television Show

Get ready for more dragons (and sexy times) on television! Amazon MGM Studios is working on a television adaptation of Fourth Wing and has also picked up the rights to the sequel, Iron Flame, as well as author Rebecca Yarros’ three other planned books in the series.

According to Variety, Yarros will be a non-writing executive producer on the TV show, as well as Entangled Publishing’s Liz Pelletier. And while we don’t know much more about the adaptation, including who the writers or the cast are, it does look like the description for the series hews closely to the books:

Enter the brutal world of Basgiath War College where there is only one rule: Graduate or Die. Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail expected to live a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general―her tough-as-talons mother―has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. If the fire-breathing beasts don’t kill her, one of her fellow riders just might.

What this logline doesn’t get into is the romance elements of Fourth Wing, particularly Violet’s repartee with both Xaden, the wingleader who hates her because her mom killed his dad, and her childhood friend, Dain. And while the show’s logline hints that there are dragons involved, readers of the book know that dragons will be at the forefront in a way that differs from, say, what we’ve seen in Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.

No news yet on when the show will go into production. When it is ready for the small screen, however, it will stream on Prime Video.
