Sylvester Stallone is once again playing Sylvester Stallone, only this time he’s an old, tired, ex-superhero in the upcoming movie, Samaritan.
Stallone may be 76 years old, but he’s still got the chops to play a laconic guy who’s able to shrug off getting hit by a car and shot at. His character initially wants nothing less than to get back into the superhero game. His young neighbor, however, wants to get him back in action and help clean up the city.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.
In addition to Walton and Stallone, Samaritan stars Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias. It is directed by Julius Avery (Overlord) and written by Bragi F. Schut (Escape Room).
Samaritan drops on Prime Video on August 26. You can also check out the poster below to see Stallone hiding his superhero powers under a hoodie:
