We’ve got another casting announcement for Scream 7, and this one raises a whole lot of questions about what the heck is going on with the plot for the upcoming film.
Deadline broke the news that Scott Foley is returning to the Scream franchise. For those well-versed in Scream lore, this is baffling, because Foley has already played a major role in a previous film. In Scream 3, he played the director Roman Bridger, who happened to be Sidney’s half-brother and, oh yeah, the Ghostface Killer. And Bridger also died in that film so… is Foley playing a zombie version of this character? Or something else?
There are, of course, many ways for writer Guy Busick to weave Foley back into the franchise. Maybe Bridger didn’t really die (but, I mean, it sure seemed like Dewey murdered him pretty thoroughly when he shot him in the head). Or maybe Bridger has a twin brother, which means Sidney has another half-brother out there! Or perhaps, maybe there are flashbacks to Scream 3 days? Or Foley will play a character that looks comically familiar to Bridger, like Paul Rudd did in season four of Only Murders in the Building?
Who the heck knows! Whatever the answer may be, we’ll see Foley join returning Scream stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown (and newcomer to the franchise, Joel McHale) when the movie hits theaters on February 27, 2026.
