Toby Froud, who was famously kidnapped by Muppets in Labyrinth, has grown up to be an acclaimed puppeteer because sometime life works up to its potential. While filming his short movie “Lessons Learned”, he and some friends reenacted “Magic, Dance”, and now he’s sharing the performance as a tribute to David Bowie. Click through, and be delighted.
I remember seeing Toby on Hollywood Treasure a few years ago. He sold the rehearsal Yoda puppet from Empire Strikes Back. Since he had that, and the name sounded familiar, I then realized that it was his father who had worked on The Dark Crystal. Then I realized that he was the baby from Labyrinth and it kinda blew my mind.
Wow, I never knew his dad was involved with Henson’s crew and that he grew up to work in the same field. That’s actually pretty cool.
Really did he grow up to be a puppeteer just for the LOLS? I mean that is too good not to have been purposeful. I need a story of his life NOW. Why has this story not been found before? Hilarious and much more interesting than a lot of what is posted here.
To my knowledge,Brian Fraud was already rather old to have a young baby at the time labyrinth was shot. I think the baby was his nephew.
@@.-@: Toby is indeed Brian Froud’s son, born when Brian was 37 in 1984.
Pat D, believe it or not but Toby didn’t get the Yoda puppet from his dad. He got it from his mother Wendy, who sculpted and fabricated the iconic puppet. Wendy also worked on Labyrinth, which is how Toby got the job. They needed a baby of a certain age that wouldn’t be frightened by the puppets. Toby, being used to puppets due to his parents work and being conveniently the exact right age got the job.
