We’ve watched the new trailer for the upcoming Game of Thrones HBO series so many times that we figured we should share the love. We’ve assembled nearly 30 stills below the cut, including shots of the various characters seated upon the Iron Throne. (Our favorite by far is the very. ominous. Daenerys above. Followed closely by Tyrion’s Joffreyslap.)
Aren’t these fun? So exciting seeing some of these scenes finally. Love just how massive Ice looks.
More extensive gallery from all the prior footage at http://www.westeros.org/GoT/Gallery/ , for those who might be interested. The latest (this trailer) is at the end of the Previews gallery.
Indeed! One thing we kept noticing was how Ice has an inner glow separate from the other swords we see in the trailer. A product of Valyrian steel, or just Ice itself?
Just a little over a month to go, I can’t believe it. It’s a shame that if it continues to be successful, at the rate they’re going they’ll still run out of available material and have to craft their own ending before the books finish. Unless R.R. Martin’s near-release of Dance of Dragons marks a sudden spike in the speed of his work.
Gah, just thinking about it makes me want to take a cathartic trip to Finish the Book, George! XD
SQUEEEE!!!
YUP. YUP. YUP. YUP. YUP.
excitement. I has it.
Tries for a coherent response…

More then half these characters will be dead before the first season is over. I hate how many George RR Martin kills. It’s hard to get attached to a story when he kills every character you like.
The pictures and shots are awesome and ominous. I’m not sure if the Blondes are Joffery and his sister or Valyrion and Danearys.
Blondes are definitely Valyrion and Danearys. Notice the egg.
Personally, I like the character death. The trick is to cast a wide net and like a lot of characters rather than put all your love into one or two as traditional epic fantasy teaches you. I’ve come to really like people introduced later on in the series too so there is always someone new to welcome into the fold. The first few chapters of the first book should clue you into the fact they are playing for all the marbles and that even cute little kids aren’t safe from the realism in the books.
I actually love that he kills so many people off, precisely because it’s not what you normally see in fantasy. It’s refreshing. Plus there are so many people to love…. It also helps the colossal storyline move along.
I also love when he [maybe spoilers? but srsly, you should have read them by now!] convinces you he’s killed someone off and only about 20 –very long– chapters later reveals that they aren’t quite dead yet…….
