The Handmaid’s Tale, Fahrenheit 451 & Other Beautiful New Folio Society Books

I recently had the honor of judging the Society of Illustrators annual book exhibition. Among the award winners we chose was an entry nestled within a stunning set of illustrations done by Italian artists Anna and Ellna Balbusso for an upcoming editon of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. The edition is comming out from the London-based Folio Society, publishers of many drop-dead gorgeous books, including a lot of science fiction and fantasy.

Jillian Tamaki did an outstanding series of paintings for a collection of Irish Myths and Legends. She also did a fantastic set of paintings for their edition of Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market and Selected Poems.

Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 as invsioned by Sam Weber. I first heard about the Folio Society when Sam took on their edition of Lord of the Flies. (I don’t think I realized until then that a dream project would be working with Sam Weber on Lord of the Flies.)

Jonathan Burton and Douglas Adam’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. (Restaurant at the End of the Universe, too!)

Check out the Folio Society‘s site for countless other beautiful books.
