Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) finally gets her chance to shine in the first trailer for Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp, not to mention all of the cool gadgets that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) doesn’t—like wings, and blasters, and… Hello Kitty PEZ dispensers used as weapons?
This is mostly the flashy, action-y trailer teasing Wasp, who fans have wanted to see suit up since 2015’s Ant-Man. Likely future trailers will delve into the actual plot, about Hope donning the Wasp suit that her mother, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), first wore. And we’ll find out just why she and her father Hank Pym are on the run…
Ant-Man and the Wasp comes to theaters July 6.
:) Niiice … Packing up your house like that might prove useful, and it is known that Pez-s rule.
I guess whether mass is conserved or not through miniaturisation/enlargement will always depend on the needs of the scenario for that scene.
Looks quite fun, just like the first one.
@2 Athreeren Yeah, that bothers me too. If Ant-man is able to knock people out with a single punch while ant-sized, you infer that he’s got the mass of an adult male in a tiny body (which, let’s be real, would kill someone). But later on Hank Pym is shown carrying around a miniaturized tank on a keychain, so clearly it doesn’t have the mass of an actual tank. Until it gets big and then it does.
I guess, as Basil Exposition says to Austin Powers when he starts questioning time travel:
“I suggest you don’t worry about those things and just enjoy yourself.“
Yep, I think we’re firmly in “Repeat to yourself ‘It’s just a show, I should really just relax'” territory when it comes to the mass of the objects.
“Hold on, you gave her wings?”
“And blasters”
“So I take it you didn’t have that tech available for me.”
“No… I did.”
“Wh-?”
Maybe mass comes from/goes to another dimension?
@7 That is exactly what happens. Pym Particles dump mass into the Quantum Zone (or whatever it’s called) and also pull it from there–as when he switches to Giant Man mode.
@8 You may not want to try that answer on a physics exam. Something tells me you would have a lot of ‘splaining to do.
Ah comic book physics. The movies that don’t take themselves too seriously or, perhaps better put, Only seriously, handle it best. Give me more like this, Ragnarok or GOTG1 & 2 and less of Iron Man and I’ll be very happy.
