Earlier today, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced a second live-action Star Wars television series in the works: an untitled spy thriller series starring Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), taking place before the events of Rogue One. Luna will reprise his role as the pilot and intelligence officer, who will set out on top-secret missions somehow more daring than stealing the Death Star plans.
Alongside Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, this new series will be developed for Disney+, the Walt Disney Company’s forthcoming streaming service (which finally has a name).
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna said in the official announcement. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
The announcement also included a brief, if vague, logline:
The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.
But what we want to know is, will K-2SO come back too?
No official release date has yet been announced.
