These ambitious crossover events just keep getting ambitious-er. On Friday, Deadline reported that this year’s Arrowverse crossover event will feature not one, but two Supermans/Supermen from different timelines, played by Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh.
Hoechlin, of course, is already Superman in Supergirl, while Routh (who plays The Atom on Legends of Tomorrow) will be resurrecting his portrayal from Superman Returns (2006). It’s not just the two Clark Kents who will be complicating things–according to Deadline, Routh will be playing both The Atom and Superman, although it’s not clear whether any of these guys will be showing up in the same episodes.
Deadline reported that the crossover will involve all five Arrowverse series (Arrow, Batwoman, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl) and take place over five episodes that will air in December and January. The title is “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” and this plus the multiple-Superman thing leads us to think some multiverse-related shenanigans will be afoot.
The CW hasn’t confirmed the news yet, but Deadline reports the news “is expected to be revealed at Comic-Con,” so keep your eyes and ears peeled if you’re there. (We’ll update this post if so.)
