The first words spoken in the latest trailer for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins are “Fish boy!” which is not exactly an auspicious start. But this trailer has a lot more to offer than the brief first teaser, including a little bit of story and longer glimpses at some other G.I. Joe characters who turn up in Snake Eyes’ movie.
When Snake Eyes (Crazy Rich Asians‘ Henry Golding) saves the life of a friend and colleague (Andrew Koji), he’s brought into a world he never expected: the ancient Arashikage order of ninja warriors who bring peace to the world.
Koji (Warrior) and Golding make a great team; this trailer kind of had me from the minute they go back to back against a roomful of opponents. The emphasis seems to be on making Snake Eyes accessible to those who don’t have a deep G.I. Joe background, which is wise—especially is this is part of a larger G.I. Joe world domination plan that includes the in-development Lady Jaye series.
