Yet another of the stories from Stephen King’s 1978 collection Night Shift is on its way to a screen near you! Production on Hulu’s The Boogeyman is set to begin this winter, Deadline reports, with Rob Savage (Host, Dashcam) directing.

“The Boogeyman” is the story of a man telling his psychiatrist how his children were murdered by the boogeyman. The film’s logline suggests the adaptation may shift the details somewhat: “Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”

According to Deadline, Mark Heyman (Black Swan, The Skeleton Twins) “has been writing the script,” while original drafts were written by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) and Akela Cooper (Malignant, The 100, Grimm). The film is being produced by 21 Laps, the production company of Stranger Things producer/director Shawn Levy, who is joined by colleagues Dan Levine and Dan Cohen. Between them, the producers have hand their hands in ArrivalShadow & BoneFree Guy, and a host of other SFF films and series.

Since the film is expected to begin production in the next few months, it shouldn’t be long before casting is announced. No release date has been set yet.
