Wolf Like Me, an upcoming series on Peacock, seems like it could go one of two ways. Either it’s as straightforward as the title and the last scene of the trailer suggest—why use this title unless someone is, in fact, a werewolf?—or something else entirely is going on here.
The actors are hinting at the latter; star Josh Gad told E! News, “It was unlike anything I’d ever read before or seen before and it felt like a really exciting challenge, a really exciting opportunity.”

And Then I Woke Up
The synopsis reveals very little:
Everyone brings their own set of baggage to a new relationship. Gary (Josh Gad) and Mary (Isla Fisher) are no different. Gary is an emotional wreck and struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife. Mary has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone. The universe brought these two together for a reason, they just need to keep following the signs.
Wolf Like Me comes from creator Abe Forsythe (Little Monsters); executive producer Bruna Papandrea also worked on Big Little Lies and The Undoing. Forsythe said in a statement, “I’d love for audiences to go into watching the series not knowing where it’s going or what gets revealed as the show progresses because I think if that happens, then it’s going to shock and surprise people. You get to the end of every episode and there’s a reason that you have to keep watching.”
This trailer may suffer from the show’s creator wanting to keep all the story’s secrets; there’s just too little to sink one’s teeth into here, other than the perpetually charming Fisher, who spends a lot of time running away. Probably she’s a werewolf? But maybe not? But is this intriguing enough to make you want to find out either way? Wolf Like Me premieres on Peacock on January 13th.
