Cue the obvious joke about how in space, they don’t need roads: The Hollywood Reporter says that the next guest star coming aboard the good ship Mandalorian is none other than Christopher Lloyd. Back to the Future‘s beloved Doc (above) will turn up in season three—though you’d have to time-travel to the future to find out who he’s playing, or when the next season will premiere.
The Mandalorian is a show positively rife with guest stars, from Taika Waititi (voicing a droid) to Werner Herzog to Rosario Dawson, premiering her live-action Ahsoka Tano before setting off for her own spinoff show. Deadwood fans got to enjoy a reunion (in a saloon, no less) between Timothy Olyphant (as Cobb Vanth) and W. Earl Brown (the Weequay barkeep). The Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, spent a lot of time guest starring in The Book of Boba Fett, a show which was not technically the third season of The Mandalorian, though it sometimes felt like it. (Any maybe should have been! But that’s a whole different topic.)
On the small screen, Lloyd has appeared in everything from NCIS to The Big Bang Theory to 12 Monkeys. He’s also done voices for video games and appeared in last year’s Bob Odenkirk action movie Nobody. Will he physically appear on The Mandalorian, or just voice a new alien or droid? Inquiring minds will have to wait a while to find out.
