The Game of Thrones prequel spinoff, House of the Dragon, is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max in mere weeks. And while we’ve gotten a couple of teasers for the series set 200 years before the events of GoT, we haven’t gotten a full-blown trailer until now.
The trailer makes explicit what the teasers have, well, teased at: King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) wants to name his daughter Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) as his successor, and his brother, Daemon (Matt Smith), is having none of it. Battles and political backstabbing and other associated intrigues ensue. There are also some dragons.
In addition to Constantine, Smith, and D’Arcy, House of the Dragon stars Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Other cast members include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn.
The show is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood and was co-created by Martin and Ryan Condal. Condal co-showruns the series with Miguel Sapochnik and the series is executive produced by Sara Hess, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis, and Ron Schmidt.
House of the Dragon premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, August 21.
