At the end of last year, showrunner Simon Barry shared the sad news that Warrior Nun would not get a third season on Netflix. There’s good news, however, for fans of the series—Barry took to Twitter once again yesterday and said that the show has found a new home.
“Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion and amazing efforts – #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine,” Barry tweeted. “More details to come! SOON! Thank-you!!”

What wonderful news for all the Halo Bearers! The series, based on Ben Dunn’s graphic novel, Warrior Nun Areala, centers on Ava, a woman recruited by the Order of Cruciform Sword to, you guessed it, hunt and kill demons (after she dies and comes back to life, of course). The show has a deserved and dedicated fanbase, who appreciate the series’ complex characters, epic arcs, and compelling storylines.
As Barry mentioned in his tweet, we don’t have any details yet on where, much less when, we’ll see the third season. The fact that it’s happening, however, is nothing but good news. And while there isn’t official confirmation that the original cast will be coming back, the odds are very good that at least most of them will.
While we wait for more news about season three, you can catch the first two seasons on Netflix.
