I haven’t talked about Futurismic very much here. This isn’t for lack of quality work getting published there; it’s more due to my overwhelmed schedule and the fact that I can’t talk about everything no matter how much I want to. But back to Futurismic. It was founded in 2001 by Paul Graham Raven—who’s also put in time at PS Publishing, Interzone, and various other excellent endeavors across the pond. Christopher East—who has published stories at Talebones, Interzone, and The Third Alternative—serves as the fiction editor. It’s not clear to me whether Christopher has been there since the beginning, but that question is likely moot as the quality of the site has been high from the start.
Futurismic has published a nice selection of writers like Douglas Lain, Lisa Mantchev, Chris Nakishima-Brown, Ruth Nestvold, Eliot Fintushel, and Jason Stoddard. Stoddard has published work at places like Sci Fiction, Interzone, and Strange Horizons. I was going through some Futurismic stories I hadn’t read, and came across Stoddard’s story, “Will Power,” which was published at the end of last year. It’s the type of story I wish I would see more of submitted to Electric Velocipede. So, without further ado, please go and enjoy:
I hope you will all get a chance to go explore the Futurismic site this weekend. There’s a lot of good stuff there.
