The Little Prince

We’re getting The Little Prince after all! The film, based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and originally due to be released on March 18, was dropped by Paramount without explanation. But now Netflix has swooped in like a World War II-era aviator to distribute the film to the masses. The film combines stop motion and computer animation, visual references to the oeuvre of Jacques Tati, and the voice talents of Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, and Paul Rudd into a film that is so pretty is almost makes us angry. We’ll let you know as soon as we have a premiere date, and in the meantime, click through for the film’s lovely trailer!

OK, one more still first:

This is a real improvement, as far as I’m concerned. I really wanted to see this movie, and the odds of it being screened in a theater anywhere near me were slim to none. Now I’ll be able to see it at no additional cost in the comfort of my home! Win-win!

Uh oh. Without the box office revenue this really hurts the chances of a sequel starring Bruce Willis, Terrence Howard and Taylor Swift.

I can’t find a date attached to this. Anyone know when we can expect it on Netflix?

About the only thing that would have been better is if Studio Ghibli had announced they were picking up the project.  Meanwhile, yay!

Canadian theatres have it, here and there.
