Lightyear, the cinematic story of the person who inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy from Toy Story, continues to be a real movie. The latest trailer for the Disney/Pixar film reveals a lot more about Lightyear’s epic adventure—not least that Buzz seems to be on a bit of a time travel trip? Which obviously makes the casting of Chris Evans even funnier.

The definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy, Lightyear follows the legendary Space Ranger after he’s marooned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth alongside his commander and their crew. As Buzz tries to find a way back home through space and time, he’s joined by a group of ambitious recruits and his charming robot companion cat, Sox. Complicating matters and threatening the mission is the arrival of Zurg, an imposing presence with an army of ruthless robots and a mysterious agenda.
What the new trailer adds to this summary is that he’s also sixty-two years in the future, where he seems to find himself working with the granddaughter of his former colleague Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba) to try to defeat an army of robots. We also get a look (and a listen) at more of the cast, including Taika Waititi as Mo Morrison, Dale Soules as Darby Steel, and Keke Palmer as Izzy Hawthorne; the three of them make up the Junior Zap Patrol. Peter Sohn voices Buzz’s robot cat friend, Sox, and Mary McDonald-Lewis is the onboard computer I.V.A.N.
Lightyear is directed by Angus MacLane (who co-directed Finding Dory) and, unsurprisingly, has a score by Michael Giacchino (Up). It buzzes into theaters on June 17th.
