AMC is all about Anne Rice! Mayfair Witches, the network’s second adaptation of Rice’s work (the first is Interview with a Vampire) is in production and has cast Jack Huston (Fargo, The Irishman) as Lasher, a magical being who has a centuries-long connection to the Mayfair witches.
The Hollywood Reporter describes Lasher as “a powerful shape shifter who has been bound to the Mayfair witches for hundreds of years.” He is a major character from the trilogy the series is based on (the second book, in fact, is titled Lasher), and without giving anything away, it’s fair to say that he is not a very nice dude. At all.
Huston is just the latest casting news for the AMC series. Back in March, we found out that Alexandra Daddario will take on the lead role of Rowan Mayfair, a young neurosurgeon who finds herself unwillingly entangled in the family drama that comes with having a long line of powerful witches on your family tree.
Other cast members include Harry Hamlin as reigning patriarch Cortland Mayfair, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien, Annabeth Gish as Deidre, Beth Grant as Carlotta, Eric Gimpel as Ellie, and Jen Richards as Jojo. The first season will have eight episodes, and Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex) is showrunning the endeavor.
Mayfair Witches is currently filming in New Orleans and is set to come out on the streaming platform AMC+ later this year.
