A lot of change is coming in the second season of Interview with the Vampire—and not just in the story. Bailey Bass, who plays Claudia, won’t be returning to the role. Instead, the young vampire will be played by Delainey Hayles.
On Instagram, Bass said that “due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances” she can’t return to the role.

Bass played Tsireya in Avatar: The Way of Water and is expected to be in the upcoming Avatar sequels, which may keep her fairly busy.
Hayles appeared on the BBC series Holby City and played Lucy Pevensie in the London stage production of The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. She joins Jacob Anderson as troubled vampire Louise de Pointe du Lac; Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt; Eric Bogosion as reporter Daniel Molloy; Assad Zaman as Armand, and Ben Daniels as Santiago.
Interview with the Vampire was renewed for a second season before the first season even began airing. It’s the keystone to AMC’s Anne Rice cinematic universe, which they are calling the Immortal Universe; the less beloved but surprisingly popular Mayfair Witches, which will also return for a second season, is the other piece of the Immortal puzzle.
Production on Vampire‘s second season is set to begin next week, but no premiere date has been announced. You can watch the first season of Interview with the Vampire on AMC+.
