Toward the end of this trailer for Loki’s second season, Mobius (Owen Wilson) says something that will hopefully be relevant to the whole dang season: “C’mon,” he says to Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, “you’re the god of mischief.”

This is a fact this show’s initial season seemed determined to forget, preferring to tangle Loki up in a bunch of wibbly-wobbly timeline nonsense. None of that is going away, this season—in fact it’s probably just getting worse–but maybe, just maybe, Loki will get his, you know, Loki-ness back on track.

Though Kang (Jonathan Majors) may be something of a roadblock.

But still, as Loki reminds Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), “We are gods.” And hopefully they can act like it as they face yet another variant of Kang—which looks to be the one from the post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Which is to say, Kang the Conqueror himself, the real big bad for the whole next bunch of Marvel releases. Maybe? With all these variants running amok (excepting the one Sylvie killed at the end of last season), it’s hard to get deeply invested in what any single one is up to.

First, though, there’s the little problem of Loki’s time slipping, which pulls him to different points in the past and present, and which even OB (Ke Huy Quan) can’t fix. That aside, “utter destruction” is also coming. So, a light season, just a few world-saving hijinks.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong, and Rafael Casal also appear in this six-episode season, which is directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, with Eric Martin as head writer.

Loki returns to Disney+ on October 6th.
