Grimm, the fantasy series that ran from 2011 to 2017, is getting the reboot treatment. According to Deadline, Peacock has a new Grimm series in development, with Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva, Bones, CSI) “writing a new take.” Berman is also executive producing with the original Grimm showrunners, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf.

The original series followed Portland Homicide detective Nicholas Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who finds out he’s a Grimm descendant and as such must join the timeless struggle to keep the mortal and magical worlds in balance. The series also starred Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch, Silas Weir Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.

What this new Grimm series will cover remains unknown, though Deadline reports that the plan is for it to have ties to the 2011 series to keep those fans engaged, and also be accessible to viewers who never watched the first show. (That hopefully means that it will remain in Portland, Oregon, because if it’s not shot there, it’s not Grimm.) It also might be the start of a franchise, depending on how well the new series does.

This isn’t the first attempt for a new Grimm show. Back in 2018, NBC had a spinoff in development from Iron Fist and Citadel writer Melissa Glenn that centered on a female character. That project, however, never made it past development.

While we wait for more news on this Grimm development, we can watch all six seasons and 123 episodes of the original series on Peacock. icon-paragraph-end
