Are Wil Wheaton, John Scalzi, Bobak Ferdowsi, and Jason Finn just “redshirts,” or do they have what it takes to conquer the sinking Forbidden Island on this episode of TableTop? Will this be another LOST island, a R’lyeh or a Lord of the Flies? Is Leslie Nielsen going to make a surprise appearance? Find out under the fold!
Mordicai Knode likes board games, haunted island, Twitter and Tumblr.
How many spurious references are you people trying to wedge in there? What the HELL are you on about? Is there some special level of bloody nerd you need to be to be able to decipher this ost? Blloody hell.
What! What! Three spooky islands & a Forbidden Planet reference? I hardly think it is indescipherable! Oh & I guess a Scalzi/Trek reference. Spurious though? Nah, those aren’t non sequiturs those are quod erat demonstrandum!
My family is addicted to this game. Kids can play as well as adults, and as Mr. Wheaton shows, it is better if you talk in a melodramatic voice. We usually win. Not always.
This series is strangely compelling.
I have never been so entertained by watching someone *else* play a game. Why haven’t I heard of this series before?!
If you enjoyed this– & I hope you did– my favorite episode(s) to date were when they played Fiasco, which I wrote about here.
@6 mordicai- I love this show, i have watched all the episodes…. But those episodes are a take or leave kind. It is basically a triple episode with part one as a set up where if you do like the game, it is a must see simply to understand how complicated the game is. The second if the first act of the RP game, and the third is were they say everyhing goes wrong. Interesting concept, but one of those cases were it must be great to play but doesn’t translate as well as it should.

Huh! See, maybe it is because I am always the DM, or more of a roleplayer, but I found those the most compelling, like– seeing what choices everyone made. I’ve shown them to some non-gamer friends & it converted them to Fiasco!
