What if a rich person decided to turn his sweet car into a death trap for the down-on-his-luck dude who considers stealing it? That’s the premise of the Sam Raimi-produced movie Locked, where Anthony Hopkins plays the deranged rich person and Bill Skarsgård takes on the role of the cash-strapped guy who decides to hijack the wrong car.

Here’s Locked’s official synopsis:

When Eddie (Bill Skarsgård) breaks into a luxury SUV, he steps into a deadly trap set by William (Anthony Hopkins), a self-proclaimed vigilante delivering his own brand of twisted justice. With no means of escape, Eddie must fight to survive in a ride where escape is an illusion, survival is a nightmare, and justice shifts into high gear.

Based on this summary and the trailer released today, Locked looks more than a little unhinged and insanely claustrophobic. Poor Eddie.

The movie comes from director David Yarovesky, whose previous credits include Brightburn, the twisted superhero film produced by James Gunn, and the spooky, family-friendly feature Nightbooks (Locked, based on the trailer released today, falls more in the Brightburn camp). The script comes from Michael Arlen Ross, whose previous credits include 2023’s Oracle and 2016’s Fallen.

Locked premieres in theaters on March 21, 2025.
