Ben Francisco is a queer Puerto Rican writer whose fiction ranges from magic realism to space opera. Their stories have won the Indiana Review fiction prize and been published in Podcastle, Strange Horizons, From Macho to Mariposa: New Gay Latino Fiction, and several year’s best LGBTQ fiction anthologies. Their first novel, Val Vega: Secret Ambassador of Earth, a queer Latinx young adult space diplomacy adventure, was a Kirkus Editor’s Pick and one of BookLife’s best books of 2024.
