Orson Scott Card is an American science fiction and fantasy author born in Washington in 1951. He the only author to win both the Hugo and Nebula Awards in consecutive years, for Ender's Game (1985) and Speaker for the Dead (1986); the Ender Saga also includes Xenocide, Children of the Mind, First Meetings, A War of Gifts, and Ender in Exile. The companion series consists of Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow of the Giant, and Shadow Puppets, and he is also the author of the Tales of Alvin Maker, the Worthing series, the Homecoming Saga, and several collections of short fiction. Card lives with his wife and youngest daughter in North Carolina.
