As this year’s San Diego Comic Con gears up, Marvel Studios has released a list of its upcoming movie premiere dates up through 2019. Although the dates are currently without titles, there are a few guesses we can make as to what movies will fill which slots. One of the bigger questions may be…where is Avengers 3 going to go?
The new dates are July 28 and November 3, 2017; July 6 and November 2, 2018; and May 3, 2019. These five dates join already announced movie premiere slots in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Here’s what the whole line-up looks like:
2015:
May 1: Avengers: Age of Ultron
July 17: Ant-Man
2016:
May 6: Captain America 3
July 8: TBD. Heavily implied to be Doctor Strange
2017:
May 5: TBD
July 28: TBD
Nov. 3: TBD. Probably Thor 3.
2018:
July 6: TBD
Nov. 2: TBD
2019:
May 3: TBD
Considering the buzz, a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel is pretty much assured for one of these slots, probably in 2017. Where might Avengers 3 land? It’s been assumed that it will debut in 2018, but would Marvel really push it to mid-summer? Or might it jump forward to 2017? Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans seem eager to put the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind them, which could go a long way towards making an early Avengers 3 a priority.
That leaves three movie slots open for other Marvel movies. Might we see Black Panther? Ms. Marvel? Black Widow? A Hulk solo outing?
